The moment we bought our new house I knew that the dining room needed a giant painting. I’ve been working on this idea for about a year, and I’ve been painting for several week. Finally, today, I finished.
The canvas is made of 8 smaller canvas panels with the total size adding up to 8ft x 10ft. I hung the panels first and then painted using a ladder, that way I was able to see how it would look in the room as it progressed.
But, before I even started painting, I spent time at the zoo researching for the monkey, bird, and peacock. The ruins are from a trip to Egypt a few years back and the light mimics sunset from the roof of our SF apartment on Nob Hill. In the end, I’m thrilled with the outcome and ready for a few smaller pieces – my arm hurts! 🙂
