This painting started about a year ago as my first true exercise in composition. I had only been painting a few months and the idea of “arranging blooms in a way to create a more beautiful painting” was completely foreign to me. To get me started, my teacher suggested that I choose one bloom to be the focus and leave plenty of whitespace. Apparently, I took the ‘whitespace’ comment literally. Ha!
That version of the painting sat on my window-cill until this weekend. I decided it needed a background and an all around makeover.
